Join collections and exhibitions coordinator Joanne Flaherty for a tour through Historic New England’s jewelry collection. Spanning nearly 400 years, this illustrated lecture is a brief introduction to the major developments in the history of American adornment. The lecture highlights changes in style and technique using images of some of the nearly 2,500 pieces of jewelry and related accessories in one of the best-documented jewelry collections in the country. Following the talk, David Bennett of Autumn Gold will discuss how antique jewelry is appraised.

The talk is co-sponsored by the Sheldon Museum, Historic New England, and The Residence at Otter Creek and will take place at The Residence at Otter Creek, 350 Lodge Road, Middlebury, VT.
