Research Papers and Presentations based on Center’s Collections

The Stewart-Swift Research Center archives houses over 300 papers and presentations based on archival materials from the Stewart-Swift Research Center. Most of these papers are unpublished and were authored by scholars; high school, college and university students as class or senior thesis projects; and by independent researchers and local historians between the 1980s and the present. Some of the papers are transcriptions of talks given at the Museum. All the papers were based on original research of the Center’s primary sources and therefore offer a unique insight into many subjects of local and national interest.

The papers are organized into broad subject categories including:  Agriculture, Art & Architecture, Commerce & Trade, Domestic Life, Education, Environment & Natural Resources, Healthcare & Medicine, Industry, Law, Military Affair, Music, Politics, Population, Religion, Social Organizations & Activity, Transportation & Communication, Women, and Biographies.

How to Find

Please see the index to all research papers and presentations. The papers are available for examination at the Research Center during public open hours.
