What does your Annual Fund donation support?
Engaging Exhibits: The Sheldon’s 2024 exhibits showcased the Museum’s extraordinary collections and featured a diversity of topics. Exhibits include: From Homespun to Couture: Fashion in Historic Middlebury; Patent Pending: Ingenuity and Innovation in Vermont and Model Boats: The Craftmanship of Jerry Degraff. Additionally, we opened our new hands-on Kids Makerspace in August of 2024 to ensure that all Museum visitors have the opportunity for inspiration and engagement. Of course, our annual Holiday Trains exhibit returns to the tracks each November. Your donation will fund exciting new exhibitions featuring the Sheldon Museum’s collections throughout the 2024 season!
Exciting Programs: Did you enjoy a program presented by the Henry Sheldon Museum this year? Perhaps you participated in our Grandmother’s Trunk Vintage Fashion Festival or attended a gallery talk? Or attended a Kids’ Makerspace program? Maybe the Simple Astonishment program, as part of Vermont Humanities 50 Forward Series, left you wanting to continue to explore the intersection of the arts & humanities with the climate cris? Every year, the Sheldon offers new programs for audiences of all ages in a variety of formats. Help the Sheldon continue its remarkable programs in 2025!
Collections Care and Management: The Henry Sheldon Museum possesses a remarkable collection of objects, and its Stewart-Swift Research Center archive is second-to-none in the region. It costs a great deal to preserve and maintain these objects and documents that constitute our heritage for exhibition, research, enjoyment, and inspiration. Collections care includes appropriate storage boxes, materials and furniture, pest control and mediation, conservation, and more. Help us with the care of our collections so that they will be available for all audiences today and for years to come.
Museum Operations: Henry Sheldon opened the Museum's doors to the public in 1884. The Museum's staff continues and advances Henry Sheldon's mission every day - sharing and preserving the cultural heritage of Addison County and the surrounding region for all to learn from and enjoy. Help us continue to keep Henry Sheldon's dream alive and thriving for future generations!
